Peace and Justice
This committee of the Mennonite Church of Normal seeks to engage the congregation in actively responding to local, national, and global issues of peace and justice. The committee is a member of the local chapter of Illinois People’s Action. We also support the local, national and international initiatives of the Mennonite Central Committee. So far this year we have offered MCC materials on peace-making at the Illinois Mennonite Relief Sale, financially supported a pastoral ministry to Bhutanese/Nepalese immigrants at Living Waters Community Church in Chicago, and helped sponsor the free public showing of “Documented,” a film on the plight of a Pulitzer Prize winning writer who was brought to this country as an undocumented 12 year old immigrant.
